PETITION OVERVIEW

The United Nations International Resolution on the Rights of the Child officially recognizes that orphanages violate human rights and that volunteering and visiting orphanages supports a global orphanage industry that puts children at risk of exploitation, trafficking and abuse.

The 2019 Resolution calls on all countries to end support for foreign orphanages. Many nations around the world have taken steps to uphold our collective commitments to child rights. We are now asking that Canada do the same.

The Not About Me filmmakers have worked with policy advisors to develop an petition to the House of Commons to request that the Government of Canada take action against orphanage volunteering and tourism.

We are calling on individuals, classrooms, non-profits, community activists, inter-faith groups, volunteering organizations and businesses to help make positive change.
